In a move to make Kenya a food sufficient nation, President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga are today launching the national economic stimulus project on food production in Hola.
Kenya launched a Sh2 billion irrigation programme to boost food production on Monday.
The programme, which will see an additional 40,000 hectares put under irrigation throughout the country, will increase production by an estimated 370,000 bags of maize and 600,000 bags of rice by February next year.
The National Economic Stimulus Programme on Food Production was launched by President Kibaki, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka at Hola in Galole District.
